About Us

We tend to become very reflective as we approach mile-stone birthdays.  You know- the one’s that end in an “O”! It might be the big 5-0 or 6-0 or perhaps the invite to the 40th class reunion.  Or (gasp!) the first time you're called Gandma! Regardless of our protestations, time marches on.  How can this be?

Our neighbor is 86 and our inspiration.  He was a backcountry ranger at nearby Zion National Park until 80.  He does yoga and strength exercises every morning. He has better looking legs than just about everyone we know. He still works at the Visitor Center and rides his bike to work most days. He’s been active, he stays active and doesn’t bemoan aging- he embraces it with vigor!

Over a bottle of wine (shared with our neighbor, of course!), we pledged that with him as our role model, our mantra will be, “Be Active. Stay Active. Embrace Aging.”™. We also agreed that regardless of age, becoming active is not easy. Determination and a sense of humor are crucial.

Over that same bottle of wine (ok-maybe not the same bottle), we laughed and talked about all the ways we could encourage each other to be active: exercise, hike, cycle, play golf and tennis, learn pickleball, join a Zumba class, compete in senior games events.  Eileen coined the phrase, “Aging… the ultimate extreme sport”™ and we decided to put that on t-shirts and hats as our way to notify everyone we are up for the competition.
